Hatsune Miku: Live Concert in Tokyo 2012 (Part 1)

I've been gone for a whole week and what did I miss while I was gone? Hatsune Miku's 2 day live concert. I've been anticipating this concert since mid 2011 and then suddenly forgot everything about it until now. I missed the livestream but luckily, I can still watch the replay anytime online.

The first day of the concert is Miku's Live Party 2012 (MIKUPA for short, MIKU + PA from PArty) and is produced by 5bp. Their Tokyo concert last year was a disappointment because they used a cheap looking black screen instead of the transparent one used by SEGA and their models are obviously inferior but they have a lot of songs and medleys. Those problems were kinda fixed during their next Sapporo concert from last year. Their models have improved and they used a transparent screen. The concert had less songs but the songs were longer.

This is my favorite song from the previous MIKUPA concert.

The second day of the concert is what I'm anticipating the most. It's the 39's Givings Day produced by SEGA. The number 39 is actually a pun and is pronounced as "SAN KYU" or "Thank You" in English. This makes the title actually Miku's Thanksgiving Day. SEGA bought this concert to the US with MIKUNOPOLIS in LOS ANGELES concert last year. Their concert looks a lot better and their models are superb but if you're playing Hatsune Miku Project DIVA for the PSP by SEGA, their choice of songs will sound repetitive at some point. Heck, their dance moves are even similar to their game counterpart.

This is my favorite song from the previous 39's Giving Day concert.

It's too bad that I can never watch any of these concerts live and have to be content with just watching the livestream or the BDs. Sucks to be me. Livestream tickets are still available until March 15 for $40 through Nico Nico Live. I've only seen the the first concert at this moment and it's the best 2 hours of my life!! I can't wait to see the second concert.

Those projections look so good. How do they do that and make it appear three dimensional? And the band that's sitting on that stage is really good. Those are some top of the line players. I really wanted a good look at that drummer and his set-up. I can understand why you'd want to see this life. It would be quite an experience.

Huh, looks interesting. I'm glad you enjoy it, not being able to speak the language makes it hard to understand.

I always find these pretty cool concerts, if only for the "fuck yeah synthetic voice and 3D-projections" side of things.
Still think the hands show up pretty statically in animations though. Not saying they're easy to make look natural or anything.

Wah-oh, we've finally reached the era of Sharon Apple's beginnings.

Admittedly, that's pretty freakin' sweet~! I always wondered how they could actually do the vocaloids in a live concert...reckon I should've noticed the stuff the Gorillaz was doing for theirs, lol.

Thanks for the heads up about this concert, Cirnopoly~!

I'll never get why people are so crazy over this simulation

Wish we had this kind of tech here in North America. Then again, the only band I can think of that would use it would be Gorillaz...

So much better than the 2010 Tokyo one. The model physics were greatly improved, I loved how they used the stage to really bring her to life.

Wow we can only dream of having that kind of tech over hear, the concert looks very well done and fun.
