Aria the Scarlet Ammo: La Bambina (Ep.1)

The show starts with a guy named Kinji, trying to lose some kind of a wheeled turret chasing him while riding a bicycle. Then a girl named Aria jumped out from a building's roof to try and save him. Sound complicated? Yeah...

The story is set on a futuristic Japan where for some reason students can carry firearms anytime due to an ongoing danger of a serial killer that hunts them down.

The animation quality was quite decent for the first few minutes but turned into shit after the opening song has ended. Pretty mediocre, the kind of quality that is typical for the animation studio JC Staff. They used 3D CG for the vehicles and the guns in which for some reason kinda look awkward and the bullets have weird shapes.

Since this is the first episode, let me first introduce the characters:

Kinji the Hysteric Gunner
The guy to the right is Kinji. At first he looks just like an ordinary student but have a secret ability that he wishes to lock away. That ability is Hysteria-Mode. The ability triggers when he is cornered or at the risk of dying, he switches to another personality of his capable of predicting the trajectory of bullets and thus evading them and shoots with precise accuracy. If you are familiar with Lunar Legend Tsukihime then I guess this ability is comparable to Shiki's Nanaya-Mode, where an anemic high-school student could suddenly transform into a blood-thirsty killer in just a blink of an eye at the moment of danger.

Kinji is voiced by Junji Majima who is famous for voice acting another JC Staff protagonist named Ryuuji Takasu (Toradora!).

Aria the Dual-Wield Rapid-Fire Gunner
The girl to the left is Aria. She's an elite from overseas, the best of the best. She wields 2 handguns, one black and the other is white that she keeps on her side holsters attached to her legs. She also wield 2 Japanese short swords that she kept hidden on her back. With 4 weapons at her disposal, she gained the title of "Quadra" which means "four" or something.

Aria is voice by none other than Rie Kugimiya who is famous for voice acting a number of JC Staff female protagonist like Louise de la Vallier (The Familiar of Zero), Shana (Shakugan no Shana) and Taiga Aisaka (Toradora!).

If you noticed, Junji Majima and Rie Kugimiya have both reprised their roles as the male and female protagonist (respectively) just like they did on Toradora!

Shirayuki the Childhood Friend
This is Shirayuki. Nothing much is known around her aside from having a crush on her childhood friend, the male protagonist, Kinji, and serves him food that she cooks herself.

If you've watched a decent amount of anime like me, then you'll know that it is a well known fact that childhood friends are always friend-zoned by the male protagonist and would most likely be not a love interest. Isn't it sad Sacchin Shirayuki?

Riko the Classmate
This girls is Riko. We don't know much about her during this episode aside from being a close friend to Kinji in class. Her uniform looks different compared to the other student in which her clothes have frills in them.

Oh, well, I guess this is it for now. Stay tuned for more reviews.
